The psychological impact of quarantine and how to reduce it: Rapid review of the evidence

A study published by The Lancet reviews the literature and research conducted during previous outbreaks. It is suggested that people in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic may experience post traumatic stress, anger, confusion, and other negative effects immediately and in the future. Depending on the length of the isolation, these may be compounded with the additional stress of social stigma, financial concerns, and a lack of information.
